God the Creator, December 2, 2019, John Ch. 1
Looking around, seeing the effects of the snowstorm that recently went through Colorado, I am amazed at the power of snow. One snowflake is unique, designed to bring moisture, but alone one is not powerful in itself. However, combined with others there is potential to close down a whole state. Each uniquely designed snowflake was created by the Creator. Who is the creator?
This morning I sipped my coffee, I read John chapter 1 seeing the creator who creates each snowflake and everything else that was created. John introduces the reader to Jesus, the one who was with God and who is God. Jesus was in the beginning before the firmament began to stir He was. As the foundation was formed, prior to the creation of plants, animals, and man Jesus was–Life.
God the creator spoke into being the earth and stars, plants, animals, and then He crafted man. He formed the man out of the dust of the earth uniquely designed to rule and reign in Eden. God took the dust in His hands, molding the man in His image, and then He breathed life into Adam. Adam was simply a ball of mud until God breathed into him. When God breathed Adam received the light of life. God’s breath charged, illuminated life within Adam enabling Adam to walk in his destiny.
Reading on in John we see that Jesus came to the earth, but He was not received. The light came, the life giving source came, but the world did not receive Him. It is a wonder that the world who He created choose to not accept His goodness, his life, choosing to dwell in darkness. Verse twelve gives light to those who choose to receive Him, because those who receive Jesus He gives the right to become the Children of God. Receiving Jesus gives us light to dispel darkness and life to live abundantly.
Up to this point we have discussed Jesus the creator. Now, John introduces the other two members of the Godhead. The Father and the Son. God, the Father is declared by Jesus. When one looks at Jesus they see the glory of the Father. In creation God spoke into existence the world. God is the designer of life, of everything that is and will ever be, God fashioned.
John was the for runner who heralded the Messiah’s coming. He went about preaching that God was coming to take away the sins of the world. John encountered Jesus in the early days of Jesus’ ministry. John had the privilege of baptizing the creator. When Jesus was baptized God the Father spoke from Heaven declaring that Jesus is the Son of God. Then the third member of the Godhead ascended onto Jesus and remained. The Holy Spirit filled Jesus with His presence and His power.
Jesus declared the Father, Holy Spirit empowered Jesus, and Jesus died the world. Just like the snowflakes each person of the Godhead is unique. Each having a distinct function in the ministry of redemption. The creator of the heavens and the earth came to reconcile the lost to Himself.
